It is pure fun sticking to the sound of the music and less to the serious undertones in the song's lyrics. We get product placement (Avril's fragrance so it's ok), a cameo from Avril's mom, and a happy ending. "What the Hell" debuted at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 last week making it her sixth single to reach the pop top 15 in the US. It is already #31 in pop radio airplay and rising quickly.
